Easy Way to Move Samples on Pads in Maschine

quickly assigning samples to pads (without having to go in and out of browse for each sample)

  1. Any way to quickly assign samples to pads without having to go in and out of browse for each sample to reselect pad?

    Currently:
    Select a pad->click browse-> scroll to a sample->press button to assign the sample to a pad->click to exit browse>repeat

    How I wished it worked:
    Select a pad->click browse-> scroll to a sample->press button to assign the sample to a pad->select a pad->scroll to a sample->press button to assign the sample to a pad->repeat until satisfiied->click to exit browse

    I think this would be a nice workflow improvement.
    Something similar is currently possible on the MPC Live (and I assume the X) where you stay in the browse mode until you are done assigning samples.

  2. You can drag and drop a group of samples from the desktop to Maschine and then easily reorganise them...
  3. Tnx but my goal (and I assume for many the selling point of Maschine) is to not be touching the laptop. Ideally this can be done with the controller only using as few unnecessary clicks and scrolls as possible

    I just wish I could stay in browse mode and keep hitting pads, scrolling and assigning until done
    having to exit browse mode->select new pad-->and enter browse mode again for each new sample/pad feels unnecessarily slow

    I know it has always worked this way but IMO I don't see why it couldn't be improved. I find myself having to move my hand back and forth across the controller more now with the MK3 than on the Studio. I think it is easier/quicker to assign samples to multiple pads on the MPC Live.

  4. If you are in browse mode just use the select button and select a new pad and if you release select button you are back in browse mode.

  5. How you want it to work is exactly how it does work.

    Click Browse > Hold Select + hit a pad > find your sample, hit Load (Button 8) > Hold select + hit a pad > find your sample, hit Load, etc.

  6. That's quite an undertaking...
  7. There is this document : https://www.native-instruments.com/....0_MK2_Hardware_Control_Reference_English.pdf
    Also exists for Maschine Studio, not for MK3 yet.
    Is its something like this you want ?

    Problem with documents sometimes is do they really reflect actual software state of development with updates etc

  8. They DO? I think you meant to say they dont. At least those control reference ones are still in 2.0
  9. Yeah it was a question :) Sometimes they don't.
  10. Personally, i don't like the PDF approach much, i understand it's useful for the oldschool folks who like a printed manual but i would much rather have an online version. Whats the real point in printing a manual that keeps changing? We are just wasting trees... lol

    Online manuals are easier to read, there are links, the text is not constrained to fit in a paper vertical format, its easier to jump around different chapters and its also probably a lot easier to maintain and edit by the people in charge of writing it. Ableton, for example, has both PDF and online documentation.

  11. Yes I agree. The only drawback I can see is when your Internet access is broken or not present.
    But may be the PDF could be the basis of an online one ?
  12. Web pages can be saved with all its content for offline browsing. Probably, with a lot of copy paste and adaptation.
  13. Me too :p I've had my Maschine for 10 days maybe?

    Either way, what OP want's to do is possible.

    Re: the online manual. Yes. Please. The PDF is fine, but that's not a small document. Seeing something in the TOC that's on page 700 or w/e, it takes forever to scroll down to it.

  14. Tnx Uwe, till now I never noticed/realized that holding select lets you select another pad without having to go out of browse mode.

    How I wish it worked was that it would just select the pad the moment you touched it rather than having to do that additional action each time. I cannot see any benefit to having to press select each time while in browse mode.

    That said I know it is not a show stopper but it would speed up how I use it.
    Cheers

  15. D-One You saying that, actually what could be used is a WIKI type web page where, when someone finds a new feature that isn't documented, it can be easily added. Definitely would be a plus for the community. Hey Mick @ NI what do you think about the Wiki Manual idea?

    What happens for you when your pads are in pad mode (i.e., 16 pads = 16 Sounds, not in keyboard mode) and you tap a pad when browsing?
  17. There has been a new hire recently, who's job it is to get an online manual up and running.
    I'm not sure about the specifics, or the timeframe though
